Hi, Renata!

I'll try to give some advice on how to make your test even better, although I'm not completely sure that my advice is relevant. Smile

I'm not sure that task 4 is open-ended as it should be, so maybe you should think of a way to allow Ss more creativity in this task.

In task 6, maybe you should avoid cases where there are more possible answers, or at least you should think of how would you grade this task.

I find that the word you decided to use in task 10 is very interesting, however, I'm not sure if you would really teach this word to your class and if it would be relevant to your Ss.

hi, Renata

I generally agree with Davor's comments on your test.
Just one additional comment:
task 2 - hm...what does it actually test? my first impression was - knowledge of domestic science Smile (however, I might be terribly wrong about that. it's just my personal impression)

Hi, Renata!

In addition to the feedback your colleagues provided (which I agree with, so I will not repeat their comments), here are some of my observations as well (please, consider them suggestions, rather than instructions):

- there are no instructions provided for items 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 --> make sure you add some when you revise the test

- item 4: Davor's advice is relevant Smile
- reminder: open-ended tasks require the Ss to answer in their own words
- try to think of a task which would require the Ss to use conditionals --> perhaps give some context first
- in that case, you can test both form and usage

- item 6: it seems to be a very good way to test collocations Smile
- however, since you've mentioned that there are several possible answers, it would be useful to indicate how many (and how many you expect your Ss to provide)
- also, it's not clear whether you expect them to match the words or to write them out separately

- item 7: when we're talking about testing terminology, it includes testing to see whether the Ss understand the terms such as "Past Simple" or "adverb"
- you can test for recognition or usage --> here you are testing usage, but no terminology is mentioned in the instructions
- also, it is not clear that two past tenses are required, which might be confusing --> consider revising instructions

- item 9: here you could use a cloze test or an open-ended item (check how your colleagues developed this item, it should help Smile)

- item 10: I agree with Davor --> unless it was covered in class, it is probably too difficult for an intermediate level S
- consider providing some context

- generally, try to think of a way to add authenticity to these test items (refer to the materials from class)

Hope you'll find some of these comments useful! Smile

A good point, Marta! Smile

However, if "refrigerator" is the focus of the item, I think it works just fine.

Thank you very much for your suggestions! Now that I can finally see what others did, I understand what I did wrong. I'll try to fix most of it in my Notebook!
